Looking Back on 2024, Looking Ahead to 2025

As 2024 winds down, I’ve been doing a lot of reflecting. Lately, I’ve seen so many posts about how tough this year was for people—how it really tested them. But honestly? For me, 2024 was a pretty amazing year.

It wasn’t a year filled with huge challenges or hard lessons. Instead, it was full of small, steady wins, personal growth, and moments of joy. Living with a chronic illness hasn’t been easy, but this year, I really started to find my rhythm. I started working with a nutritionist, figured out more of my triggers, and learned what helps me feel my best. It feels good to see progress, even in something as tough as managing health.

Work was another highlight. I had another great year on the job, planned and managed another Thinksgiving event (which is always a favorite), and got to dive into some exciting projects. It’s a good feeling to love what you do.

And then there were the adventures! I kicked off the year with a week in Savannah (highly recommend), cruised through the stunning landscapes of Alaska, spent a weekend with my bestie in Chicago, and celebrated my birthday in Phoenix at my first Suns game.

But the best part of 2024 was moving back in with my family to help take care of my grandma. Spending this time with her—doing puzzles, swapping stories, and just being present—has been such a blessing. It’s also been nice to help ease some of the load on my mom. These quiet, everyday moments are what I’ll carry with me forever.

As I look ahead to 2025, I’m filled with excitement for what’s to come. I’m ready for more travel—a cruise to Mexico is already on the books, and I can’t wait to add more adventures to the calendar. I’m also determined to get back into the gym and prioritize my health in new ways. And this year, I’m focusing on getting better at saving and managing my finances—a skill I know will set me up for even more opportunities in the future. Oh, and let’s not forget Beyoncé! I jammed out to her amazing album all year long. Seriously, she delivered! She has a big announcement coming on 1/14/25, and I’m crossing my fingers it’s a tour. If it is, you already know where I’ll be!

There’s also something new for 2025—I’m finally coming back to this blog after a three-year hiatus.

I started Grace Not Perfection to reflect, share, and process life in a way that felt authentic. Somewhere along the way, life got busy, and blogging took a backseat. But 2025 feels like the perfect time to pick it back up and reconnect—with writing, with myself, and hopefully with you.

Here’s to a year of showing up, sharing stories, and making space for what matters. I can’t wait to see what 2025 brings.

What are you hoping for in the new year? Let’s go into it with gratitude for what we’ve learned and excitement for what’s next. Cheers to another amazing chapter!

  1. Completely agreed! My 2024 was just a year of internal reflection and changing the next half of my life. But that was because I am turning 40 in 2025!

Happy New Year! Hope 2025 is just as amazing!

Good to see your grandma looking well, and grateful you experienced cruises and travels to your delight. 2025 is the year of grace upon grace. Much respect and love, Denita.
