To the Women in My Life

On this last day of Women’s History Month, I want to take the opportunity to honor some of the women in my life who are making history everyday just by being their amazing selves. Your impact in my life could never be measured and I wish to give you your flowers today and everyday.

Mommy aka Mama Bear 🌹

The number one lady in my life. Your unconditional love and unwavering support keep me grounded. To know that no matter what mistakes I make, what failures I commit, or what dreams I don’t live up to, that you will always be in my corner gives me the courage to take risks and leap out on faith, knowing that you will always be a soft place to land. Thank you for being a shining example of commitment, dedication, individuality, and being true to yourself always.

Grandmother aka “MJ” 🌸

My biggest pain in the neck and my greatest blessing…getting to spend so much time with you over the last several years has truly been the blessing I didn’t even know I needed. Hearing your wisdom, your stories, seeing the world through your eyes. You make me laugh every single day and cherish the light in your eyes when you smile. Thank you for showing me what it means to truly accept everyone and for showing me what a life well lived looks like.

Danielle aka Mildred aka Milly Rock 🌻

My kindred spirit. The ivory to my ebony. The Yang to my yin. Your light shines brighter than any star. Your love for the people you care about triumphs over any hate. Thank you for showing me what it means to be both an amazing mom and woman going after everything she deserves in life. I look forward to the day I have kids and have you by my side to do navigate the hard places. Keep shining friend.

Brittany aka Mrs. Bell 🌺

My sister from another mister. My bestie boo. No distance or time can dim the strength of our friendship. Since the moment we met, our spirits have been inseparable. Your belief in me and your encouragement have pushed me through when I wanted to give up. Thank you for always being a source of positive energy and showing me what it means to be a great wife without losing yourself. You inspire me.

Gail aka Little One 🌼

My little sister. My shadow. The one who looks up to me and makes me want to be a better example each and every day. Your strength in the face of adversity and your compassion for others energizes me in a world that can beat you down if you let it. You may be young but you are wise beyond your years. Thank you for all that you have and continue to teach me about what it means to be unapologetically you. Don’t let anyone dull your shine, baby girl. The world isn’t ready for the greatness you will bring.

Pixie aka Dooderbutt 🌷

My ride or die. My broke best friend. I wouldn’t be where I am without you by my side. You would follow me to the ends of the earth and all of the transition and turmoil in my life wouldn’t be nearly as bearable without your constant and consistent presence creating me every day when I return home. Even though you can’t read, I love to the moon and back Pixie Lou!

To every woman reading

this 💐

Thank you for being you. Thank you for being strong yet vulnerable, bold yet cautious, unapologetic yet aamenable, outspoken yet reserved, loving yet anti-bullsh*t, and powerful yet unafraid to ask for help. If no one has told you today, you are amazing. You are woman.

We run the the world. ✊🏾
